Employees Recognized for Outstanding Performance

Mason Staff Receive Monetary Awards

Twenty-three employees were honored at the Employee Incentive Awards ceremony Aug. 6 in the Johnson Center. Each of the recipients was presented with a certificate by President Merten, who lauded them for helping their co- workers get ahead. The Outstand- ing Performance Award (OPA) provides a 2.25-percent permanent step increase, and the Exemplary Performance Award (EPA) provides a check for 2.25 percent of each recipient's annual salary, or $1,000, whichever is the lesser amount.

The OPA recipients were Susan Beale, Distance Learning Program; Betty Beatson, Human Resources; Tonya Eimer, Public and International Affairs; Mirkazem Farhangi, Facilities Construction; Carol Henderson, Human Resources; Elizabeth Herrmann, Information Services; Margaret Howell, Equity Office; Beth Ives, Payroll; Diane Knight, Counseling Services; Mark McClelland, Physical Plant; Rebecca Nemeth, Information Services; Brenda Noel, The National Center for Community College Education; Martha Reiner, Human Resources; Mary Salmon, Continuing and Professional Education; Theresa Walker, Payroll; Nancy Wallace, Career Services; and Doris Wiesenhahn, Adult Learning.

Those who received the EPA were Eileen Chandhoke, Prince William Library; Gail Hodges, School of Information Technology and Engineering; Wendy Lim, University Libraries; Leslie McKenney, Materiel Management; Zane Phipps, Johnson Center Library; and Elizabeth Rowe, History and Art History.

Nominations for the OPA and EPA awards to be presented next January should be received by Human Resources in November for review by the Employee Incen- tive Awards Board. Instructions for completing and submitting nominations are on the HR home page.

Additionally, nominations for the Individual Impact Award (IIA), which recognizes short-term accomplishments (e.g., presentation of a training class, completion of a difficult report, or other noteworthy efforts), can be processed any time. The award consists of a cash payment from $25 to $250, and there is no minimum qualification period and no restriction on the number of IIAs an individual may receive.

Forms for all the awards, including the classified Employee of the Month, are available on the HR home page (http://hr.gmu.edu) under Forms and Materials. For more information, call x32739.
