NEW WEBSITE CENTRALIZES DISTANCE LEARNING COURSES OFFERED AT VIRGINIA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

FAIRFAX, Va.---George Mason University is one of ten institutions of higher learning participating in the Electronic Campus of Virginia. This centralized Internet site offers a listing of distance learning courses av ailable through Virginia colleges and universities. Courses are offered at the undergraduate, graduate and professional, and continuing education levels.

Visitors to the site may search for a course by subject or by institution. The website contains links to participating institutions, where visitors can receive information about enrollment, requirements, credit and financial aid.

In addition to George Mason, participating institutions are University of Virginia, Central Virginia Community College, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, New River Community College, Northern Virginia Community College, Southwest Virginia Community College, Mary Baldwin College, Old Dominion University and Virginia Tech.

The Electronic Campus of Virginia is a cooperative instructional technology initiative among the state's public and private colleges and universities. Its purpose is to provide students of all ages with one-stop access to learning in a distributed environ ment.
