our chapter

Did you know that only 13 percent of women view heart disease as a health threat, even though it’s women’s No. 1 killer?  In 1957, The Alpha Phi Foundation in Support of Cardiac Care was formed to help women worldwide. Research in the diag-nosis and treatment of women's heart disease is a special inter-est in the Alpha Phi Foundation.

With its large presence in the Cardiac Health world and even the White House, the Alpha Phi Foundation is working to aid researchers to one day find a cure for heard disease.

George Mason University’s Alpha Phi chapter is no different.  Every semester, the sisters of Alpha Phi hold a philanthropic event.  These events range from Hoops for Hearts, a three-on-three basketball event, PHI’ESTA BOWL, a dodge-ball tournament to King of Hearts, an all-male talent showcase.  Alpha Phi raises thousands of dollars at each of these events and 100% of their proceeds go directly to the efforts of the Alpha Phi Foundation.

The Eta Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi has won the Philanthropy award in the GMU Greek Community several times.  They also have the honor of being the only women’s fraternity on campus to have on of their active sisters be invited to become the collegiate representative for all collegiate Alpha Phi’s for their Foundation.
