Currently, Afra is working with Dr. Eden King on her honors thesis and undergraduate apprenticeship project which examines discrimination toward female Muslims in job applications. She also enjoys being a peer tutor in the writing center. While she is not at school, Afra works as a substitute teacher, a Spanish tutor, and a relationship banker at BB&T. Being a Pakistani American, she speaks Urdu and Punjabi fluently and has learned Spanish over the course of six years. After graduation, Afra hopes to pursue a PhD in counseling psychology to work with families of diverse backgrounds.

Vice President: Ashtyn Campbell

Ashtyn is a senior with aspirations to obtain a Masters degree in family and couples counseling. Her goals include having her own private practice, making contributions to psychology by writing books about her experiences as a therapist, traveling the world to experience other cultures and helping those in need. She is a huge fan of music, which she makes her hobby by regularly going to small venue shows, and she enjoys spending her free time hanging out with her friends and boyfriend.

Bianchi Suarez: Treasurer

Bianchi is a Psychology Major finishing her senior year at George Mason. She is currently working on my honors thesis which focuses on inmates' connectedness to the community and the role of family and friends. It is her plan to apply for graduate school this year to pursue a Masters in Counseling. She would like to work helping minority groups and hopes a Masters in Counseling will allow me her to do so. She was born in Costa Rica and has lived in the US for almost four years.

Ivana L. Man: Secretary

Ivana L. Man is currently a junior pursuing a B.S. in psychology. She is working in Dr. Denham's Child Development Lab with continuation research. In addition to being Secretary of Psi Chi, Ivana is actively involved in the Mason Ambassadors, also as secretary. She just completed the Honors Program in General Education and is currently in the Honors Program in Psychology. Ivana plans to graduate in December 2008 and will attend graduate school. She ultimately wants to become a child life therapist.

Wendy Baccus : Historian

Wendy is a psychology major on her way to graduating in May of 2008. She is currently a member of GMU's Honors Psychology Program. The unique program has allowed her to combine her love of ballet and psychology into her thesis concerning motor learning and the visual perception of movement with Dr. Jim Thompson. Wendy hopes to decide (very soon) which direction in psychology she would like to pursue upon graduation, be it cognitive psychology, neuroscience, forensic psychology, or child psychology. She enjoys teaching ballet, helping homeless animals get adopted, and being an identical twin!

Lauren Serpati: Undergraduate Committee Representative

Lauren is a senior psychology major planning to complete her degree in January 08. Her research focuses on how socially anxious individuals function in their romantic relationships. She is working with Dr. Todd Kashdan in his Laboratory for the Study of Social Anxiety, Character Strengths, and Related Phenomena. Lauren also works as a babysitter, tutor, and substitute teacher. During her free time she likes to play volleyball, read, travel, and play the alto saxophone. After graduation, she plans on applying to clinical psychology PhD programs.
