ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION SOCIETYGeorge Mason University School of Law |

IntroductionADR is essentially about settling disputes by means other than formal, costly and often contentious litigation. ADR tries instead to resolve disputes through methods such as arbitration, mediation, private judging and mini-trials. Such methods often prove helpful to resolving disputes more peacefully. Furthermore, an attorney who is able to use such methods may be better equipped to represent clients because he or she can offer advice on a variety of potentially less costly and more expeditious methods of dispute resolution. The GMUSL ADR society offers a variety of ways students can understand and participate in the various aspects of ADR: we organize guest lectures by experienced mediators, career panels, CLE classes. We send teams to ADR competitions. We can also help you gain practical experience in the Virginia and DC court systems. These sites will give you more information on ADR:
