Membership

There are two types of membership.  Please note the appropriate fees.

 

***Honorary membership- In order to attain honorary (local)  membership there are no GPA requirements. The one time cost is $25. Must obtain 15 points until February 31st of each year.

***National Membership- You will be joining the National Organization as a life member and receive information on conferences and the newsletter.  Must obtain 15 points until the week before the induction.

You must have a cumulative GPA and BCPM GPA of at least 3.2 and have completed 45 credits.  Also, you are required to attend at least three meetings per semester.  The one time cost is $50. You must meet the point system criteria before being initiated in the spring. Rules on obtaining points throughout the semester may be found HERE.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

*MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE ONLY PAYABLE BY CHECK. Make checks payable to "Alpha Epsilon Delta"

*The application, supplementary release form, and your payment must be submitted together, otherwise we will NOT process your application!

*Application: You may leave the 'Date of Initiation' blank as we will fill that part for you. You may turn in your application to the Biology department office located in David King Hall-Room 3005.

*Induction is held in March of each year. Starting Fall 2007 you must obtain 15 points for Honorary or 20 points for National by February 31st in order to be inducted. New accumulation of points will start March 1st of each year. Those that join early and do not meet the requirement for induction by February 31st will have their points carried over for induction in the following year. AED offers plenty of opportunities for you to earn points throughout the semester.

*After induction, members MUST maintain an acive status by obtaining 15 points per semester until graduation in order to receive a graduation cord.

*Transfer students applying for National Membership and who have NOT met 45 credits at George Mason University must attach a hardcopy of the official or unofficial transcript from their previous institution to the application packet.

Note: *Freshmen are also welcome to apply, however, only National members are qualified to run for an office position.
