To form a strong cohesion among all members and to grow as an honor society on campus as well as in the community, each member must be active. This can be done by attending meetings, helping with fundraisers, attending medical school tours, and participating in one-day group volunteer events. Because our members have been active in previous semesters and anticipate on doing so this semester, we have established a Point System to reward them for their time commitment. All members must earn a fixed minimum number of points each semester in order to remain active members in the society.
Honorary members are required to have 15 points, while national members 20 points. Attendance at volunteer events, fundraisers, or medical school tours is equivalent to 5 points. Members are expected to be present for the majority, if not all, of the event. If one is only there for a fraction of it, then he/she will receive 1 pt per hour. Furthermore, members will receive 3 points for attendance at each meeting. Members can earn upto 3 points for 5 hours outside volunteering service. A sign-in sheet will be present at all events, including meetings. All names and corresponding points will be noted here. Prospective members who have earned the appropriate number of points will be invited to our annual induction ceremony, which is held in February. While this is an incentive for all prospective members to earn points, members who have already been inducted in previous years are still expected to earn points as a reward will be presented to the person who has earned the most points at the end of the semester. It should not be forgotten that participation in an organization is very beneficial to one's medical, PA, dental, pharmacy, or veterinary school application so involvement in this society can only strengthen it, thus, although not tangible, it is the true reward.
