Atapuerca exhibit in New York

For information on the Artsbus - inexpensive travel to New York museums
- see artbus.gmu.edu
There's one on Feb. 22 and March 22; the Atapuerca exhibit runs through April 13.

There is an excellent exhibit on the recent hominid finds in the Atapuerca hills of Spain is on view at the American Museum of Natural History. It's an excellent opportunity for students interested in paleoanthropology and human evolution to get a close-up look at some new and important specimens.

For those interested, The Dept. of History and Art History has an "Art Bus," which takes people to New York for a day, and There's one scheduled for later this month. It usually stops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, right across Central Park from where the Atapuerca exhibit is being held. If someone is willing to get the information, it would be a great opportunity for Anthropology students to go up and see this show at relatively low cost and have a road trip in the process. In the past the Anthro. Club has actively participated in International Week with activities such as speakers, different international foods, and films. It would be great if the Club could do so again. International Week will take place April 7-13 and it is especially for students. Once you decide what you'd like to do, please let me know right away because it will be publicized throughout the university in a flyer announcing all the different events. With a little brainstorming, the Anthro. Club should be able to come up with a good idea or two, emphasizing international and global themes. Of course, let me know if I can help with the planning in some way. Best, Linda Seligmann
