- Founded in 1925 at Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania
- More than 17,000 male and female members at 361 campuses nationwide
- Cardinal principles:  Leadership. Friendship, Service
- Student-run chapters design service programs based on local needs.
- All-volunteer field support to chapters
- Student members complete minimum service participation requirements
- Examples of common service projects: conducting blood drives for hospitals and blood banks, organizing “Relays for Life” for campus and community, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, hosting workshops for local Boy and Girl Scouts to earn badges
