ENGH 305 - Dimensions of Writing and Literature

Credits: 6 (NR)
Examines English as a discipline and develops interpretive skills for further study in the major. All sections cover issues such as form, genre, point of view, figurative language, conventions of close reading and literary interpretation, and how culture shapes texts.

Fulfills general education requirement in synthesis.

Fulfills writing intensive requirement in the major.

Equivalent to ENGL 325 (2010-2011 Catalog)

Prerequisite(s): 6 credits in literature. Students must register for a lecture section and the recitation section (301).

Notes: Open to all students. Required of those majoring or minoring in English, who should take ENGH 305 before taking other 300- or 400-level literature courses, and who must obtain a minimum grade of C to satisfy degree requirements in English major. Regular class meetings; weekly lectures, performances, or readings.
