Senior Housing Administration Graduate Certificate

Unit: Health Administration and Policy 

This 15 to 18-credit certificate provides multidisciplinary education in the administration and management of active adult, assisted living, Alzheimer’s assisted living, continuing care retirement, and related senior housing communities. Courses enable students to evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information relative to the aging population, the evolution of the senior housing industry within the U.S. health system, the application of executive-level hospitality, healthcare, and housing management practices to these services, and current regulatory and policy issues. An additional focus is on biological, psychological, and social aspects of healthy aging and factors that promote quality of life and independence for seniors, including those with special needs (i.e., memory issues and dementia).

Application Requirements

Professionals with a baccalaureate degree and three years of recent experience in health care, business administration, hospitality management, aging services, or related long-term care services are preferred. Applicants must meet the admissions standards and application requirements specified in the Admission  chapter of the catalog and apply using the online Application for Graduate Admission. The application process is competitive, and applications are considered for the fall and spring semesters. Certificate Requirements


Candidates must have 15-18 graduate credits and a minimum GPA of 3.00 in course work, with no more than 3 credits with a grade of C, to earn the certificate.
