The purpose of the Honor Committee:
The
Honor Committee is charged with upholding the standards set forth in the
Honor Code of the George
Mason University
School of Law. The
established standards require the commitment of students and faculty alike to
act ethically and honorably in all situations. By pledging to conform to
these standards, students and faculty are extended the trust and respect of
the University. It is the stated purpose of this Honor Committee to conduct
its activities with the presumption that all parties that come before the
Committee are honorable and ethical. Students
against whom allegations of misconduct are brought, as well as students and
faculty who report possible violations of the Honor Code, will be treated
with respect and confidentiality. The Honor Code and Honor Committee
proceedings are not intended to be used as a threat by students or faculty
against an allegedly offending student. Allegations of misbehavior are
serious and should be contemplated and brought in a manner cognizant of the
inherent trust and respect accorded all students at the George Mason
University School
of Law.
