Information Security Association Announces Speaker For April 24th Meeting

 

Chief Scientist at Center for Secure Information Systems (CSIS) Discusses Large-scale Distributed Honey-clients
 

Fairfax, Va. – April 14, 2008 - The George Mason University Information Security Association (ISA) student group announced today its speaker lineup for its April 24th meeting. The speaker is a research professor and chief scientist in the Center for Secure Information Systems (CSIS) at George Mason University Fairfax, VA campus.

 

Dr. Anup K. Ghosh, Research Professor at GMU, will deliver his presentation entitled “Web Canaries: a large-scale distributed honey-client for detecting malicious web sites.” The Web Canary solves several problems honey clients currently face: it can get meaningful URLs from user inputs; it can visit web pages protected by CAPTCHAs or passwords; it is scalable. Ghosh is also founder of Secure Command, LLC, which is a security software start-up leveraging virtualization technology to develop next-generation Internet security products.

In addition, there will also be a presentation by Julie Lubochinski, a GMU career counselor for IT Majors, on how Careers Services can help students improve thier resumes, interview skills, and the job search process as it relates to local IT companies. There will also be a presentation by recruiters from Raytheon so BRING YOUR RESUMES.

The meeting is scheduled for April 24th at 7 PM in the Johnson Center, Room F, 3rd floor. Free catering will be available on a first-come first-served basis. The reception starts at 6. Panelists will speak from 7-8:30 PM. Parking for non-students is available in the Visitor Parking Deck, located directly adjacent to the Concert Hall. Student parking is available in Lot K, across the pond from the Concert Hall
