Competitions: Manne Moot Court Competition for Law and Economics

2009 Contest Results

The Seventh Annual Manne Moot Court Competition for Law and Economics was a great success! The problem involved the settlement of a patent law suit between two pharmaceutical manufacturers, which allowed the patent holder to maintain its monopoly in return for payments to a competitor seeking to market a generic alternative. Competitors had to help the Court of Appeals for the Thirteenth Circuit determine whether the settlement constituted an unlawful restraint of trade.

The teams from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and Brooklyn Law School advanced to the final round where they argued in front of a distinguished panel including Judge Dyk, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Judge Glickman, D.C. Court of Appeals and Maureen Ohlhausen, an adjunct professor at George Mason School of Law and a former Director at the Federal Trade Commission.

Congratulations to the following teams and individuals:
Winner: Ohio State University Moritz College of Law
Best Brief: Brooklyn School of Law
Best Oralist: Julie Byrne, Ohio State University Moritz College of Law

The GMU Moot Court Board would like to thank all of the judges, competitors, and spectators who came out to support the competition.
