2007 Competition


The Problem:   The 2007 Problem involved Barry Computer Corp., a manufacturer of MP3 players, who had been accused of unlawful resale price maintenance by forcing its distributors to agree to sell its products at a certain price. Attorneys representing both sides were required to explore the legal and economic implications of intraband versus interbrand competition to make their case.

2005 Competition

The Problem:   The 2005 Problem involved Thrifty Brews, an association of small liquor retailers, who had been accused by the government of price-fixing, as the result of advertisements run by its members in an effort to compete with the big chains.  Attorneys representing both sides were required to explore the legal and economic implications of cooperative price-advertising by competitors to make their case.
