Moot Court Board is pleased to host:
THE
2011 UPPER CLASS MOOT COURT COMPETITION (UCC)
WHAT: The
Upper Class Moot Court Competition is an appellate level oral argument
competition. Students will compete in teams of two. The problem for the
competition involves the issues presented in this semester's LRWA III
Appellate Writing class. Students do not need to be enrolled in
Appellate Writing this semester to participate in the competition.
WHEN & WHERE:
The preliminary and advancing rounds of the competition will take place
at GMUSL on Saturday, November 12, 2011. The semifinal and final rounds
will take place at the Fairfax Circuit Court, in Fairfax, VA on Friday,
November 18, 2011 at 3 p.m.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
All second, third, and fourth year George Mason law students are
welcome to participate. To repeat, enrollment in or completion of LRWA
III Appellate Writing is not a prerequisite for participation in the
Upper Class Competition.
NOTE:
Students who wish to be considered for Fall Selection on the Moot Court
Board MUST compete in the Upper Class Competition.
HOW: The UCC
sign-up sheet will be posted outside Room 123 at on Thursday, October
13th at 5pm. Space is limited to 40 teams and sign-ups will be first
come, first served. Please note that you must sign up in teams of two
people. If you are interested in competing but do not have a partner,
there will be an interest sheet posted next to the sign-up sheet where
you may leave contact information for potential partners.
MORE INFORMATION:
Please join us for one of two UCC INFORMATION SESSIONS on Thursday, October 6, at 5:00 p.m.
or Tuesday, October 11, at 5:00 p.m. in Founders Room 111
(Atrium level, right behind the bookstore). We will discuss
the UCC in further detail (including the competition format and
scoring) and address any student questions.
