Why Join Phi Kappa Theta?
A common question parents and students ask is, "Why join a fraternity?" Our response to this question is to be a part of a group with common goals and beliefs.
Opposed to the image presented by many entertaining movies, fraternities inspire high standards of conduct and help members learn valuable lessons about life outside of school.
Fraternities also encourage superior scholarship, increase chances of graduation, create a sense of belonging, develop leadership ability and responsibility, and instill a spirit of concern for others through community service and service projects.
These areas and others of interest to prospective members will be discussed in the following sections.
Joining a fraternity gives you a distinct edge for academic success. National surveys have revealed that 71% of all Greeks graduate while only 50% of all non-Greeks graduate.

Although academics are the main priority of a college student, an active social life helps relieve the stresses of the numerous hours of study. Phi Kappa Theta offers ample opportunities for relaxation and recreation. On the five major event weekends: Homecoming, Christmas, Valentines, St. Pat's and Greek Week; we host parties attended by friends. Phi Kappa Theta is also socially active with other groups on campus. We enjoy several parties with the sororities on campus.
These activities provide an escape from the everyday studying routine and enhance the brotherhood in Phi Kap and our friendships with others on campus.
What is brotherhood-the nucleus of the fraternity idea? It is not easy to define brotherhood because it is something which knows no physical bounds, and means something different to each person. But at Phi Kappa Theta, it is the principle by which we exist.
Brotherhood is based ultimately upon love. Whether it is socializing at a party, playing a game of pickup basketball or simply a late night "bull session" over pizza. It is impossible to put into words the significance which these close friendships mean to you. The brotherhood learned at Phi Kappa Theta is a way of life.
Any fraternity can help you obtain some valuable leadership skills. However, when deciding on where to live during you college years, you should pick a place that will allow you to choose what is right for yourself. Phi Kappa Theta fraternity is the type of place for those who strive to be the best leaders.
In your near and distant future you will be expected to have proven leadership experience from several different roles. Whether this experience comes from previous jobs, personal activities, or campus organizations, every employer wants to hire someone that is ready and willing to accept responsibility. The best way to exhibit this to a potential employer or peer is to obtain and prove yourself in leadership roles while in school.
We, the men of Phi Kappa Theta, are completely self-sufficient. We personally manage and budget all our resources. In this way, Phi Kappa Theta offers every member the opportunity to gain leadership experience through a proven administrative structure within the house. Our members also enjoy a number of on and off campus activities.
There are approximately 20 officers and 5 leadership positions available every semester that work together to run the fraternity. From day one you will have the opportunity to hold an office and begin gaining necessary leadership skills.
If you want what employers an colleagues are looking for, consider a fraternity. If you want the best of these, consider Phi Kappa Theta.
