Message from the Vice President

Matthew J. Kluger, MBA, PhD became George Mason University's Vice President for Research and Economic Development, effective July 1, 2005. He came to Mason after having served as vice president for research and dean of the School of Graduate Studies at the Medical College of Georgia, the state of Georgia's health sciences university, from 1999 to 2005. From 1993 until 1999 he ran a research institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and oversaw a research program focused on understanding the role of inflammatory mediators in fever and inflammation. From 1972 until 1993 he was a professor of physiology at the University of Michigan, where he and his students and colleagues worked on various questions relating to temperature regulation, fever, and general host responses to infection.
