| The National Science Foundation Program officers and NIH will provide details about the NSF & NIH Small Business Innovations Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer Business (STTR) programs at their respective agencies. The workshop will also include a session presented by Jennifer Murphy on issues that can arise when small businesses partner with universities. Topics will include: confidentiality agreements, conflict of interest, intellectual property agreements, and university / industry agreement issues. |

| This session is for any faculty member considering starting their own new venture. Topics will include risks and rewards; legal issues; role of the faculty-founder; raising capital and exit strategies. |

| This session may be taken independently, but will integrate with Part I: Starting Your Own Company. Topics will include finding an entrepreneurial team; joint venture; corporate partnering; business models and marketing and selling.
