In July 2000 George Mason University established the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) to promote and facilitate the use of the many rich and exciting university innovations by the business community. The OTT advises faculty, students, and staff on issues related to intellectual property and provides the university's bridge to the George Mason Intellectual Properties, Inc. a newly formed corporation created to manage the protection and commercialization of the university's patents, copyrights, and know-how.
