August 2, 2002 - Orientation for Banner Student Teams.
Approximately 60 members of the Banner Student implementation teams gathered for an orientation to the implementation process. Wendy Payton, Project Lead, introduced the session. Audrey Clay and Dianne Louis, SCT functional consultants, explained how training visits work and stressed the importance of keeping up with assignments. Barbara Yablonski described the technical landscape for the project.

Steve LaNasa, who currently works on the HR implementation, gave his perspective on how to ensure a successful outcome. He counseled functional users to

  • begin your analysis on the requirements of the self-service products, and work backwards from there.
  • start mock-processing earlier.
  • visit other schools to see how Banner works and how to solve specific problems.
  • push your issues with SCT.
  • involve more people earlier from the back office to the extent that it's possible, dedicate yourself full-time to the effort, or contract to spend a specific amount of time each week on the effort.

Week of July 15, 2002:
