Degree Requirements


Students must complete a minimum of 55/65 credits beyond the masters degree.

Education Core (29 credits), which includes 3 credits of general culture; 15 credits of research methods; and 12 credits of higher education.

Elective Higher Education, which may include a 3-credit internship (12 credits)

Secondary concentration (12 credits)

Dissertation (998, 999) (12 credits)

EDUC 800 Ways of Knowing (3 CR)

Research Methods

EDRS 810 Problems in Methods in Research (3 CR)

EDRS 811 Quantitative Methods in Education (or substitution in another dept) (3 CR)

EDRS 812 Qualitative Methods in Education Research (or substitution in another

dept) (3 CR)

2 additional methods courses (6 CR) approved by advisor

Higher Education

CTCH 792: Special Topic, leadership in Higher Education  (3 CR)

CTCH 821:   History of Higher Education in the US (3 CR)

CTCH 826:   Institutional & Program Assessment in Higher Education (3 CR)

CTCH 830:   Ethics and Higher Education  (3 CR)
