EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The GMU Aquatic & Fitness Center offers many employment opportunities to the University community and to the local community as well. Employment application forms are available at the Welcome Desk or click on the link below.

Head Lifeguard ($9.00/hr.):Participates in the management of programs, aquatic operations and supervision of lifeguards. Qualifications required: Certification in life guarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) and First Aid with a minimum of 9 months of lifeguard experience and 3 months pool operation experience. Certified pool operator's license required.

Lifeguard ($8.00/hr.): Maintains a safe, clean and secure environment for patrons in the aquatic area. Qualifications required: Certification in lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) and First Aid.

Water Safety Instructor ($13.00 - $18.00):Participates in the George Mason University Learn to Swim Program. Instructs swim lessons according to skill requirements as defined by the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Program.Qualifications required: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.

Personal Trainer ($10.00 - $17.50/hr.): Participates in the development and implementation of fitness orientations, assessments, and programs. Interested individuals should also hold a strong belief in life-long fitness. Qualifications required: Certified by a national fitness organization, and hold current CPR and First Aid certifications. Qualifications preferred: At least 1 year of experience working in a fitness center or personal training setting, a degree in exercise science or related field, and a certification from ACSM, NSCA, ACE or AFAA

Fitness Instructor ($6.50 - $9.50/hr.): NOW HIRING FOR FALL! Provides a safe and secure environment for patrons in the fitness areas, while offering assistance in proper equipment use. Interested individuals should also hold a strong belief in life-long fitness. Qualifications Required: Certification in CPR and First Aid. Qualifications preferred: At least 1 year of experience working in a fitness center or personal training setting.

Manager on Duty ($12.00): Supervises entire Center while full-time staff is not present. Supervises front desk, fitness staff, and lifeguards. Deals with any problems that arise in the Center. Responsible for closing out the cash register and securing the building prior to leaving. Qualifications required: Minimum two years experience in a customer service environment. Familiar with cash handling and close out procedures. Must be CPR certified. Must have excellent communication skills and one year of supervisory experience.

Customer Service Assistant ($6.50 - $8.50/hr.): Responsible for welcome desk operations including membership registration, cash handling, information dissemination and assisting patrons by phone and in person. Qualifications preferred: Minimum of one-year experience in a customer service environment with basic cash handling skills and multi-lined telephone experience. Requires excellent communication skills.
