Child Development Center

OUR STAFF

Teachers at the center have degrees in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, a related field, or a Child Development Associates Credential (CDA). Most important, those chosen to staff the center are caring, nurturing, warm, and respectful of children as individuals. A respect for the needs of working parents and the ability to work together with parents for the benefit of the child are prerequisites.

CENTER DIRECTOR

Tina Morris

Tina Morris is the Director of the George Mason Child Development Center. She joined the Mason Faculty in July 2002 as a Lead Teacher in the Polar Bear classroom. Tina has over 20 years of experience in early childhood programs, dating back to her degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Rhode Island.
A military spouse, a mother of three and a grandmother, she has been involved in educational programs throughout the United States. Tina is a member of the National Assocation for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and was awarded a Citation of Merit from the Maryland State Department of Education in 1993. In August 2005, she was Mason's Employee of the Month.


KANGAROOS

 

April Breeden

April Breeden is the Lead Teacher of the Panda Bear Class. She has been working at the Child Development Center since December 2002. She has taught in all three classrooms. Miss April is married and has three boys - Kyle, Tristin and Connor. April is a 2006 Graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.


PENGUINS

Sheila Sabio

Sheila Sabio is the Lead Teacher in the Polar Bear room. Sheila is a graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science. She has been working at the GMU Child Development Center since 2001, first as a student assistant then as an Assistant Teacher in the Teddy Bear Room. Sheila loves to travel, go to the beach, eat sushi and seafood!


TEDDY BEARS

Dorothea Tyree

Dorothea Tyree is the Lead Teacher in the Teddy Bear classroom. Dorothea has been with the CDC for five years. Dorothea has her CDA and is a certified Red Cross Instructor of First Aid and CPR. Before she joined our staff, Dorothea worked at the U.S. Army Child Development Center in Fort Hood, Texas for 3 years.
