The Undergraduate Academic Affairs office handles requests for exceptions
to academic policies for undergraduate students within the College
of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Science. Our mission is to provide support to students,
faculty and staff on a variety of academic issues and policy questions.
Throughout
the year, our office conducts workshops for students in academic
jeopardy and for faculty and staff to help them better understand
policies and procedures. Additionally, the UAA Deans attend and
conduct educational presentations at national and regional conventions
such as the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and National
Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
Our
commitment to academic excellence is also visible at GMU. The deans
teach a variety of courses within the social sciences, natural sciences
and humanities, and they serve as advisors to
Alpha Lambda Delta (for freshmen and rising sophomores).
