| George Mason University is an equal
opportunity/affirmative action institution committed to the principle
that access to study or employment opportunities afforded by the
university, including all benefits and privileges, be accorded to
each person—student, faculty or staff member, or applicant
for employment or admission—on the basis of individual merit
and without regard to race, color, religion (employees), national
origin, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, sex, or
age (except where sex or age is a bona fide occupational qualification).
Each
student is responsible for knowing the rules, regulations,
requirements, and academic policies of the university. The catalog
is
the normal repository of policy statements, but corrections, changes,
or
interpretations can be promulgated by other means, including electronic
publication.
The
university will use electronic mail as an effective way of providing
official information to students. Examples include notices about
academic standing, instructor feedback, and correspondence from
our
office. Students are responsible for the content of university
communication sent to their George Mason University email account,
and
they are required to activate that account and check it regularly.
If
students choose to place an email forwarder on their university
account,
they are responsible for ensuring that the account remains active.
To
ensure that your email account is active, please visit
https://mail.gmu.edu.
Students
are strongly encouraged to meet with their academic advisor on a
regular basis, but are ultimately responsible for academic schedules.
Requests for exceptions to George Mason University academic policies
are approved only under extraordinary circumstances. To request
consideration students must complete the Student Request form and
submit appropriate relevant documentation in a timely manner.
