INTERNATIONAL STUDENT WELCOME WEEK
CHECK-IN @ OIPS WELCOME CENTER
OIPS Undergraduate and Graduate check-in (for copying of immigration documents, verifying records, quick questions) for new and transfer students.
Please bring the following documents with you:
- I-20/DS-2019
- I-94 card
- passport
- letters of admission
- GRA/GTA award letters (graduate students)
- transfer forms (transfer students)
- and current address/telephone number

REQUIRED TUBERCULOSIS SCREENING
Each semester Student Health Service sends incoming students an Immunization Record outlining the requirements for immunizations. Compliance with and completion of this form is a Commonwealth of Virginia and University requirement for all students. Students will not be allowed to register for a second semester without full compliance.
Tuberculosis (TB) screening is required of all students who lived or has arrived in the United States within the past 5 years as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Exception is made for students arriving from the following countries: Canada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia (USA), Virgin Islands (USA), Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, American Samoa, Australia, or New Zealand.

Office of International Programs and Services offers a Washington Area Night Life Tour for interested international students. We are meeting at 7:45 PM on August 22, right after the Welcome Reception. Around 8 PM we will take Mason to Metro Shuttle Bus to Metro. Plan your outing accordingly, make sure you have $10-15 as an admission cover fee and about $25 additionally for taxi, if you are planning to leave the club late.
We take the Metro (subway) to one of the best dining and night life spots in DC and take a short walking tour of the best book stores, independent movie theaters, restaurants, and dance clubs. We then pick a fairly inexpensive restaurant to eat and later go to a coffee shop, dance club or lounge, depending on the interest on the group.
You will need to bring a photo ID with proof of age (passport) and $20 or more. Scholars are also welcome. Sign-up sheet will be at Orientation and OIPS Welcome center.

DRIVING TOUR OF THE MONUMENTS, WASHINGTON D.C.

Meet at 11:45 a.m. in front of Finley Building on campus
Visit some of the most famous monuments in Washington D.C. on a driving tour with a professional tour guide. We will visit the Roosevelt, Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean monuments on the Mall, US Capital Building, Washington Cathedral and more. We will not be stopping for lunch so please bring your lunch or money to buy lunch. We will only be getting off the bus at a few sites. We return to campus around 5:00 p.m. All new students and scholars are welcome. Sign-up sheet will be at Orientation and OIPS Welcome center. Space is limited and there is a $10 sign up fee that will be given back to you once you are on the bus to use during the lunch at Union Station Food Court.
