All vehicles parked on property owned or leased by George
Mason University are required to display a valid George Mason University
decal or permit. Visitors are required to park in designated areas with
the appropriate permit or pass.
Vehicles may be parked only between painted control lines in areas specifically
designated for parking. Please read all campus signs at lot entrances
and within lots for permit regulations. Parking assignments differ from
lot to lot; some spaces are reserved or restricted at all times.
The registered owner of a motor vehicle is responsible for all violations
issued to the vehicle regardless of who is operating the vehicle. If a
vehicle is displaying a valid GMU permit and receives a citation for violation
of University rules and regulations, the registered owner of the permit
will be held responsible for all citations issued to vehicles displaying
that permit.
All regulations enacted by the Commonwealth of Virginia and George Mason
University are duly enforced. Vehicles in violation of the rules and regulations
set forth in this document and those established by the University's Administrative
Policy No. 1108, and the associated set of Procedures which govern motor
vehicle policies and regulations may be subject to citation, impoundment,
immobilization, and/or towing at the owner's expense. No motor vehicle
operator, including University personnel, shall park a motor vehicle in
a manner which violates any of these rules and regulations.
