The Quad: Student Activities
Mason's main Quad has long been a gathering place for students. The Quad and nearby North Plaza are the settings for annual festivals, such as Mason Day, Patriots Day, the Health and Fitness Challenge, and International Week. Food, games, concerts, comedy and fashion shows, and dinner dances are just a sampling of the many entertaining activities that mark these occasions. Celebrations of Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Women's History Month, and Asian Awareness Week feature a wide range of notable speakers like Shirley Chisholm, Julian Bond, Susan Rook, and Harry Belafonte.

The two Robinson Halls (A and B) are among other buildings that surround the Quad. They primarily contain academic departments and classrooms supporting the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Nursing and Health Science, and the Graduate School of Education.
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is perfect for the student seeking a traditional discipline, such as English, biology, mathematics, psychology, or philosophy. The largest and most diverse academic unit within the university, CAS has 31 degree programs, as well as 10 interdisciplinary minors. Graduates include a CNN news anchor, accomplished novelists, and Peace Corps volunteers serving in countries like Costa Rica and Bulgaria.
The College of Nursing and Health Science, one of only eight World Health Organization Collaborating Centers nationwide, offers you a multifaceted educational experience. Alumni are listed in Who's Who in American Nursing, a distinction held by only two percent of nurses in the nation. A Mason alumna garnered the nursing profession's highest national award, the Mabel May Wagner Nursing Award.
The Graduate School of Education sets the pace in training teachers to meet the needs of their students. Earn a master's in counseling and development, education leadership, curriculum and instruction, instructional technology, or special education.
