Outdoor Recreation and Experiential Leadership Undergraduate Certificate

This 25-credit certificate program provides students with specialized skills unique to a variety of outdoor adventure and experiential activities, such as backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, and challenge-course facilitation. Course work focuses on the acquisition of technical skills and application of theory-to-experiential learning in an outdoor recreation curriculum. The program provides options for students to attain certification as low and high element facilitators and Wilderness First Responders. Students completing the certificate requirements will be fully prepared to work as challenge course facilitators, work as instructors at Outdoor Education/Adventure Education organizations, and effectively integrate outdoor experiential programs with existing educational curricula.
