Science Communication Graduate Certificate

This certificate is designed for graduate students with or without an academic communication background to upgrade their knowledge of the field. It is geared to meet the needs of both communication professionals and science professionals who want to emphasize science communication work in their future careers.

The graduate certificate in science communication may be pursued on a part-time or full-time basis.

Application Requirements


Applicants to all graduate programs at George Mason University must meet the admission standards and application requirements for graduate study as specified in the Admissions  section of this catalog. Certificate Requirements


 All course choices included in this certificate must be approved by the department.

Two required courses (6 credits)


Two courses in STEM, Health Sciences, or Science Policy (6 credits)


These courses should be chosen from any STEM, health sciences, or science policy discipline. Both courses must be from the same discipline and must be graduate level. Choices must be approved by the program director. Students should select from 500- or 600-level courses offered by COS, CHHS, SPGIA, or CEHD.
