Evelyn Tomaszewski, MSW, ACSW

Biography

Evelyn P. Tomaszewski, MSW, ACSW, is MSW Program Director and an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at George Mason University (Fairfax, VA).  Tomaszewski brings over 25 years of experience as a public health social worker practicing in in the US and globally. Prior to Mason, she served as Senior Policy Advisor and Project Director with the National Association of Social Workers , where she directed the transdisciplinary HIV/AIDS Spectrum Mental Health Project in partnership with the  SAMSHA National HIV Mental Health Training Resource Center.  Tomaszewski also led multiple stakeholder driven initiatives focused on LGBTQ equity, social and economic justice, social services workforce strengthening, and global violence prevention.

Her expertise and research interests include HIV/AIDS syndemics, mental health and other NCDs, ethics and social work practice, LGBTQ youth, violence prevention, human rights of at-risk and marginalized communities, and increasing skills and capacity of health and social services workforce (providers, services, leadership and governance).  Tomaszewski also consults on projects ranging from program and workforce development and  community and systems level change - to building multi-sectorial partnerships and initiatives with non-profit, public and private industry leaders in health and behavioral health, public health, and social services.  She earned her Master of Social Work from West Virginia University and a Graduate Certificate (Public Health/ Global and Community Health) from George Mason University.
