Biography
Dr. Roland B. Wilson is the Program Coordinator, Associate Professor and faculty advisor for the Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University’s campus in South Korea. He is also the Peace and Conflict Studies Center Asia (PACSC Asia) Founder and Co- director, an international mediator and consultant. Dr. Wilson received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in linguistics, Korean, and teaching English as a second language from Indiana State University. He received his doctorate in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
Dr. Wilson possesses more than 35 years of combined military, government and academic experience and has written about a myriad of complex subjects, including Asia Pacific relations, foreign policy, diplomacy, and security and conflict issues. He has also lived in East Asia for more than 20 years and speaks Korean at a professional-level.
Dr. Wilson’s current interests include working to improve foreign policy, diplomacy, and conflict resolution efforts around the world. He is also working to create and enhance local community and governmental capacity to peacefully mediate, transform, and resolve culturally diverse and historically deep-rooted and protracted conflicts by developing courses and providing professional workshops and other education and training opportunities.

로랜드 윌슨 박사

고문을 맡고 있다. 또한 아시아평화와 분쟁연구 센터의 책임자이자 국제적인 중재자 및 컨설턴트이다. 윌슨 박사는 인디애나주립대학 언어학, 한국어학 및 제 2 외국어로서의 영어교육학과에서 학사와 석사 학위를 받았으며, 조지메이슨대학교 분쟁분석 및 해결학과에서 박사학위를 받았다.
윌슨 박사는 군대, 정부 및 학계에서 35 년 이상의 경험을 쌓아왔고, 아시아 태평양 지역 국가들의 관계와 외교 정책, 외교, 안보 및 분쟁에 관한 연구를 진행해 왔다. 또한 동아시아 지역에서 20 년 이상 거주하였기에 고급 한국어 구사 능력을 갖추고 있다.
현재 윌슨 박사의 관심사는 전 세계의 외교 정책과 외교, 그리고 분쟁을 해결하기 위한 노력 등에 있다. 윌슨 박사는 교육 과정을 개발하고 전문적인 워크숍 등 교육 훈련 기회를 제공함으로써 다양한 문화적 배경과 뿌리 깊은 역사를 지니고 있는 분쟁을 평화적으로 중재, 변화 및 해결할 수 있도록 지역 사회와 정부의 역량을 증진시키고자 노력하고 있다.
