We want to both maintain and safeguard our health. Mason encourages the community to get out and about and exercise ... while taking the proper precautions.
Mason has developed individual plans to operate recreation centers, training areas, athletic and exercise spaces and facilities following recommendations and requirements from Virginia, the NCAA, the Atlantic 10, CDC guidelines and our Safe Return Plan.
Mason campuses are mask-optional, except in certain event venues, health care settings, on public transit, or child care settings. You can find additional guidance on the Face Coverings page on our Safe Return site.
- Faculty and staff who wish to request a medical exemption from wearing a mask where required should contact Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, for more information.
- Students who seek a medical exemption from wearing a mask should visit the Office of Disability Services for more information.
- Event organizers might require masks. Contact University Events for more.
- You are encouraged to complete the Mason COVID Health Check before every visit.
All recreation and athletic facilities have supplies for increased cleaning and disinfecting routines.
Mason has also established additional precautions for facility usage, group sessions, medical examinations, student athlete academic support, individual and team practices, and competitions.
Safety guidelines are listed on facility websites.
