Shared Equipment and Mail

Mason wants you to have the items you need for teaching and learning, as well as other jobs across campus. We also want to ensure we acquire these materials in the most cost-effective manner possible. 

The coronavirus that transmits COVID-19 is primarily spread through airborne exposure. However, the disease can also be transmitted by hand-to-mouth contact after touching a contaminated surface.

The virus can survive for up to 7 days on hard surfaces; for porous materials (including cloth, paper, and cardboard) it’s typically less than 24 hours.

Per CDC Guidance, you should wash your hands or use hand sanitizer after accepting deliveries or collecting mail.

If you collect or distribute material as part of your job (mail services, cashier, retail employee), you should wear disposable gloves, then wash your hands, or use hand sanitizer when you remove your gloves.  

Office mail (including letters, packages, or periodicals) can be opened immediately. If there is no urgency to open other letters, packages, or periodicals, let them sit for 24 hours before handling if you can. Open packages with cold storage requirements immediately.

Shared equipment such as printers, copiers, and laptops should be cleaned between uses with a disinfectant spray or wipe. Wash your hands immediately afterward.
