What is University Relations?

University Relations (UR) leads the university community in promoting the talent, expertise, accomplishments, and resources of George Mason University as a world-class institution of higher education.

UR promotes public appreciation and support for the university by publicizing the people, programs, and events through a wide variety of activities, including media relations, web communications, special events, community outreach, and print publications.

To help achieve this goal, UR provides professional marketing and communications services for the Mason community. Its knowledgeable staff write for the Mason Gazette; work with print and broadcast media at the local, state, and national level; schedule and organize events, and provide information services from the switchboard to the campus-wide information desks.

Creative Services provides photographic services and designs print publications, including the university catalog. Web Communications offers web development services, which include web site design and electronic publications, including the online university catalog. Christine LaPaille is the vice president of University Relations.

UR is an organization of creative professionals that are available to coordinate, produce, evaluate, and help distribute materials that best represent your cause and that of George Mason University.

Through promotion, announcements, calendars, multimedia, photography, publications, and web sites, we can bring your programs to the attention of the university's internal and external constituencies.
