Application Requirements

Students must meet the admission standards and application requirements for graduate study as specified in the Admission chapter of the catalog. Students not currently in a degree program at George Mason should submit an application for graduate study. Students already enrolled in a Mason degree program should submit a secondary program application.

Certificate Requirements

Core courses (9 credits):

PSYC 530 - Cognitive Engineering: Cognitive Science Applied to Human Factors Credits: 3
PSYC 768 - Advanced Topics in Cognitive Science Credits: 3 (This course may be applied to this certificate when topic is relevant to cognitive neuroscience. It may be repeated for credit when the specific topic is different.)

One course (3 credits) chosen from:

PSYC 527 - Introduction to Neurobiology Credits: 2
PSYC 531 - Mammalian Neurobiology Credits: 3
PSYC 556 - Chemistry and the Brain Credits: 3
PSYC 558 - Neuronal Bases of Learning and Memory Credits: 3
PSYC 559 - Behavioral Chemistry Credits: 3

Two elective courses (6 credits) chosen from:

PSYC 597, 766, and 768 may be used to fulfill this requirement when the topic is relevant to the certificate with prior written approval of the program director.
