College Teaching Graduate Certificate

The certificate in college teaching is designed for graduate students who are planning a career in undergraduate education. The program offers courses that enhance pedagogical skills, explore pedagogical assessment or scholarship and the use of technology in instruction.

This program of study is offered by the Higher Education Program .

Application Requirements


Students must meet the admission standards and application requirements for graduate study as specified in the Admission chapter of the catalog. Students not currently in a degree program at George Mason should submit an application for graduate study. Students already enrolled in a Mason degree program should submit a secondary program application.

Certificate Requirements


Three required courses (9 credits) chosen from:


Students may substitute courses with a disciplinary focus for any of the three required courses with prior written approval of the director.

Practicum (3 credits)


Two elective courses (6 credits)


Students should choose their electives in consultation with an advisor. They need to be approved by the director.

Total: 18 credits
