Senior Housing Administration Graduate Certificate

Unit: Health Administration and Policy 

The graduate certificate in senior housing administration provides education in the successful management of senior housing communities, including Active Adult/55+, Independent Living, Assisted Living, Alzheimer’s Assisted Living, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Courses enable students to evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information relative to aging populations; regulatory and policy issues; the evolution, role, and scope of the senior housing industry; and the application of executive-level practices to hospitality, health care, and ancillary services within senior housing environments. An additional focus is on biological, psychological, and social aspects of healthy aging and factors that promote quality of life and independence for seniors.

Admission Requirements

Professionals with a baccalaureate degree and three years of recent experience in health care, business administration, hospitality management, aging services, or related long-term care services are preferred. Applicants must meet the admission standards and application requirements specified in the Admissions  section of the catalog and must apply using the online Application for Graduate Admission. The application process is competitive, and applications are considered for the fall and spring semesters. The graduate certificate in senior housing administration may be pursued on a full- or part-time basis.

Certificate Requirements


Candidates must have 18 graduate credits and a minimum GPA of 3.00 in course work, with no more than 3 credits with a grade of C, to earn the certificate. Detailed requirements for graduate certificates  are listed in the AP.6 Graduate Policies  section of the catalog.
