Mathematics, BA

Students may select an optional concentration in mathematics education; students who do not select this concentration study traditional mathematics.

Students must fulfill all requirements for bachelor’s degrees .  In addition to satisfying university-wide general education requirements  and requirements for the BA degree in COS , students must satisfy the requirements listed below.

This undergraduate program offers students the option of applying to the accelerated master’s degree program in curriculum and instruction (SECM concentration) .  See listing for specific requirements.

This program of study is offered by the Department of Mathematical Sciences in the College of Science .

Degree Requirements


Electives for Traditional Mathematics (12 credits)


  • 12 additional credits of electives in MATH numbered above 300 (excluding MATH 400)

Concentrations


Students may select an optional concentration in education.

Students selecting the mathematics education concentration take the following 33 credits of coursework in place of the 12 credits of MATH electives listed above.

Note


A maximum of 6 credits of grades below 2.00 in course work designated MATH may be applied toward the major.
