ANTH 383 - Asian Megacities

Credits: 3 (NR)
Examines the category of “megacity” as a unique urban form and example of globalization. Takes into account histories of colonialism, orientalism, and postcolonialism relevant to how Asian cities have been developed and represented. Draws on ethnography, film, literature, and reportage to explore topics such as migration, urban planning, life in slums, politics and corruption, transnational capital, and gendered mobility.
