Social Work Minor

Unit: Social Work 

The minor in social work requires 18 credits and provides students with conceptual, theoretical, and practical knowledge related to the field of social work at the individual, family, group, community, and societal levels. Social work practice courses and internship experiences are only open to social work majors.

Course Work


Minor courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.00.

Students should be familiar with university-wide requirements for minors described in the AP.5 Undergraduate Policies  section of Academic Policies .

Electives (9 credits)


Social work electives (9 credits) may include the Human Behavior course (SOCW 323  or SOCW 340 ) and the Policy course (SOCW 351  or SOCW 370 ) not taken to fulfill required courses.

Note:


SOCW 301 , SOCW 357 , SOCW 358 , SOCW 362 , SOCW 417 , SOCW 452 , SOCW 453 , SOCW 454 , and SOCW 456  are not open to minors. See an advisor in the social work program for more information.
