Helen C. Anderson

 

Helen is a student in the Operations Research Master's degree program at George Mason University with a focus in Military Operations Research.  Helen has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Goucher College.  Helen currently works for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren Virginia as a System Test Engineer for the Tomahawk Weapon Control System.  Her technical expertise is focused in requirement and specification verification, software troubleshooting, and functionality and operability testing.  She is currently serving as the Tomahawk Surface Engineering Design Model Lead. 

 

 

Steven Beres

 

Steven is completing his final semester as a student in the Systems Engineering Master’s Degree program, concentrating in Systems Management at George Mason University. Steven’s academic interest is in decision and risk analysis, research methods, and systems management. Steven has specific expertise working with Department of Defense transformational initiatives and supporting the Department of Homeland Security. Steven is currently the Assistant Director of Operations for the Emergency Management Services/Law Enforcement Division of Alutiiq, LLC.  His professional expertise focuses on Corporate Operations, Emergency Response Logistics, Information Sharing, IT Systems Transition, Electronic Security Systems, and Personnel Security.

 

 

Joe Shaw

Joe is completing his final requirements for the MS in Operations Research at George Mason University.  Areas of academic interest include simulation design and efficient allocation of computing budgets, stochastic optimization, and effective use of graphics and visualization.  He works in the Naval Surface Warfare Analysis Group at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. serving as Principal Military Operations Analyst and Program Manager for Combat Systems.  His primary responsibilities include conducting and directing engineering based analysis of Naval warfare, with particular emphasis on simulation based analysis of Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) operations.  Joe is a retired Navy Surface Warfare Officer with extensive experience in Combat Systems and nuclear propulsion.  He has a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan.          Mason cluster home page 

Maj. Timothy Valadez

 

Tim is an active duty Army officer in the Operations Research Master’s degree program at George Mason University.  His focus is in Military Operations Research.  Tim has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Texas A&M University.  Prior to beginning his master’s degree work, Tim served as an Armor officer as a tank platoon leader, company executive officer, tank company commander, and in a variety of staff assignments at the battalion, brigade, and division level while stationed in Texas and Germany.  He has deployed to the Balkans once and to Iraq twice.  Following his graduation, Tim will be assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division staff at Camp Red Cloud, South Korea, as an Operations Analyst.
