Designed for the student to gain an understanding of the past and present role of football in American culture. Focuses on the development of college, professional and high school football over the past 120 years and contemporary issues in football culture are analyzed such as debates over tacial symbols and mascots, the question of professionalizing division one college football, and tailgating and televisual football cultures.
