Discusses role transition and development of advanced practice psychiatric mental health nurses. Regulatory and economic policies affecting advanced psychiatric mental health nursing practice in the evolving health care system are discussed. Students demonstrate competence in comprehensive management of acute and chronic psychiatric disorders through case presentations from their practica. Performs a comprehensive assessment of the mental health needs of a community.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate. NURS 783
Corequisite(s): NURS 784

Notes: Required course in the Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (FPMHNP) concentration. Admission to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program or with permission of instructor.
