PROV 500 - Graduate Writing in the Disciplines

Credits: 3 (NR)
This course provides instruction for graduate student writers as they develop strategies for completing research-based writing in their field. Students will review rhetorical structures and organizational strategies common to US academic scholarly writing generally and in their particular field. Students will also review and practice strategies at the sentence and discourse levels to increase the clarity, precision and appropriateness of their writing. Group instruction will be supplemented by one-on-one conferencing as students complete two graduate-level writing projects.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of undergraduate degree at a university outside of the United States.

Corequisite(s): Enrollment in a graduate-seeking program at Mason.

Notes: This course may not count towards academic degree requirements at the graduate level without permission from the academic dean/director.
