The Intake Initiative is a program in which GMU law students interview applicants for legal services and summarize the relevant facts in a short memo for the attorneys at Legal Services of Northern Virginia.
Shifts are available in one hour increments between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday to Thursday and 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday starting soon this Fall Semester. The VBA Pro Bono Society office is located on the third floor of Hazel Hall. There is minimal training involved, but a complete manual for volunteers is available on the VBA Pro Bono Society's TWEN page. Volunteers will gain experience in interviewing and having direct "client" contact. Student volunteers will be making calls remotely and will have supervisors, who are available during their shifts to answer questions via Gtalk.
Volunteers who complete the most hours of service by the end of the school year will be honored at our reception. We hope that you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to get involved in pro bono work in a way that won't interfere with your busy schedule.
