American Bar Association Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service

The Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service is the ABA’s center of activity for the development and promotion of pro bono policies and initiatives. The mission of the Committee includes fostering the development of pro bono programs and activities by law firms, bar associations, corporate legal departments, law schools, government attorney offices and others; analyzing the scope and function of pro bono programs; and proposing and reviewing legislation that affects lawyers’ ability to provide pro bono legal services.

D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program

The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program strives to mobilize the private bar to assist in making legal advice and representation fully available to low-income persons in the District of Columbia.

Legal Services of Northern Virginia

Legal Services of Northern Virginia (LSNV) is a non-profit public interest law firm that provides free legal assistance to low-income residents of Northern Virginia.

Pro Bono Net

Pro Bono Net is a national nonprofit organization based in New York City and San Francisco. They work in close partnership with nonprofit legal organizations across the United States and Canada, to increase access to justice for the millions of poor people who face legal problems every year without help from a lawyer.

Pro Bono Resource Center for Maryland

Their mission is to promote equal access to justice in Maryland by coordinating and supporting volunteer civil legal services, providing resources and support for legal advocated for the poor, and promoting cooperation within the legal community.

Virginia Bar Association

A voluntary organization of Virginia Lawyers committed to serving the public and the legal profession by promoting the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and excellence in the legal profession; working to improve the law and the administration of justice; and advancing collegial relations among lawyers.

Virginia Povery Law Center

Virginia Poverty Law Center (VPLC) is a not-for-profit organization concentrating in the areas of law that affect low-income families. Established in 1978 to advocate on behalf of low-income Virginians on poverty issues of statewide importance, VPLC is the only state-wide organization providing training to local legal aid program staff, private bar attorneys, and low-income clients, relating exclusively to the legal rights of Virginia's poor.

Virginia State Bar Pro Bono Resources

The mission of the Virginia State Bar includes fostering support for free and reduced fee legal services with the goal of improving access to the legal system for all Virginians and for nonprofit charitable and civic groups that serve the public good.
