Statement from Provost and Executive Vice President Mark R. Ginsberg on the passing of Thomas Lovejoy

The George Mason University community grieves the passing of our colleague, Professor Tom Lovejoy. He recently was honored with his election to the prestigious National Academy of Sciences. An internationally respected climate scientist, Professor Lovejoy focused on the critical importance of sustainability, including many consequential contributions to our understanding of climate change and employed a cross-disciplinary approach to finding solutions to the greatest and grandest challenges of this era. He was a beloved member of our university community. We honor him, are saddened by and grieve his passing, and send our sincere condolences to his family.
