Summer Staff Appreciation Events
The Staff Senate will host Staff Appreciation Events to kick off summer and the fiscal new year at three locations. Refreshments will be provided by Rita's Ice.
Classified and non-student wage staff are invited to register for a time slot at the location of their choosing using the links below:
- Fairfax: Thursday, June 22, from 1–3 p.m., Merten Lawn
- Mason Square: Wednesday, June 28, from 1–2 p.m., Plaza
- SciTech: Thursday, June 29, from 1–2 p.m., Katherine Johnson Hall Patio
Summer Plaza Programming at Mason Square
The Plaza at Mason Square hosts dynamic weekly programming and ongoing special events, open to the Mason and greater Arlington communities. All activities are free and open to the public.
Summer programming includes exercise classes, story time (for all ages), outdoor office time, and more.
Check out the Summer Cinema Series, heading "Back to the '90s" with movies like The Lion King (June 30) and Men in Black (July 21). Movies on the Plaza start at 8 p.m. Learn more.
High School Graduations at EagleBank Arena Conclude June 13
Heavy traffic is expected on and near the Fairfax Campus through June 13 due to high school graduation celebrations at EagleBank Arena.
With multiple ceremonies most days, traffic will be entering and exiting campus from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., so please allow for extra travel time.

Fairfax Parking Services Office: Hours Change
The Fairfax Parking Services office will close for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. each day except for the first two weeks of the fall and spring semesters. If you have any questions, please call 703-993-2710 or email parking@gmu.edu.
New Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Prompt
Information Technology Services (ITS) is upgrading the Duo application used for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). The upgrade results in a new look for the Duo prompt users receive when verifying their identities.
The new prompt already appears when using 2FA during sign-in to the Patriot Pass Password Management site. On Sunday, June 11, the new prompt will be added for applications using ADFS, including Office 365, Zoom, and the Student Health Services Portal, and Central Authentication Service (CAS) and Shibboleth, including websites like myMason, Patriot Web, and Parking Services.

Staff Senate Nomination Period Opens June 12
The nomination period for the 2023 Staff Senate Election starts Monday, June 12, and ends on Friday, June 23.
The Staff Senate represents all classified and non-student wage employees at Mason, addressing issues that affect the quality of work-life at Mason.

Adjunct Faculty Success Workshop Set for August 12
The Adjunct Faculty Success Workshop is specifically designed to meet the unique needs and challenges faced by adjunct faculty, support their transition to Mason, and develop practical teaching and learning strategies for success with their students.
The workshop will be hosted virtually on Saturday, August 12. Registration is now open.

Tony Skinn Youth Basketball Camps: Mason Employee Discount Available
Mason men's basketball head coach Tony Skinn will host a pair of youth basketball camps this June on the Fairfax Campus.
Camps are open to children ages 7–14. Mason employees, alumni, and Patriot Club members are eligible for a $50 discount by using code STAFF50.

Reminder: Metro Orange Line Platform Work This Summer
Construction work will occur on Metro’s Orange Line over the summer. Stations between Ballston and Vienna will be affected through July 16. For information on the project, including WMATA shuttle service while some stations are closed, visit the WMATA website. An overview of all planned Metrorail track work is available.
Interstellar Dreams Space Center Summer Camp
The Interstellar Dreams Space Center is launching a summer space camp. Interstellar Dreams blends “hands-on" fun and "minds-on" tech with children’s imaginations to launch the future of space exploration.
Campers will explore space, imagine the future, and design the possibilities of ethical space tourism.

Mason Exhibitions: 'Edges of What I Feel'
Mason Exhibitions Arlington presents Edges of What I Feel, an exhibit that challenges the viewer to confront and embrace uncomfortable realities about mental and physical health. The exhibition features the work of the Healing Artist Collective and is open through August 26.
The artists will host workshops and events every Friday and Saturday during the exhibition. Follow Mason Exhibitions to stay updated on future events.

Mason Jazz Camp: The U.S. Army Blues

The U.S. Army Blues, part of the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” is the premier jazz ensemble of the U.S. Army. After informal beginnings in 1970, this 18-piece ensemble became an official element of the Army Band in 1972. The Army Blues strive to fulfill their mission through public concerts, educational outreach, and the preservation of the tradition of America’s unique art form: jazz.

ike Kamuf Little Big Band is a jazz ensemble that brings together eight talented musicians from the Washington, D.C./Baltimore region. The group’s repertoire consists of original compositions and arrangements penned by Mike Kamuf, as well as jazz standards and selections from the Great American Songbook.

Wolf is a multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Maryland. From age three, Wolf has been trained on the vibraphone/marimba, drums, and piano. Under the guidance of his father, Warren Wolf Sr., he has a deep background in all genres of music from classical to ragtime to jazz.
